The Eastern Charity Society is proud to announce:

Have you ever been to a period picnic? Take this opportunity to sit back and relax at an event while spending time with your friends and family! It will be a family oriented day consisting of a picnic lunch, games & activities for children and adults, period swimming and other fun activities. First person is optional and each persons decision to or not to shall be respected. Please understand that this event is an invitation only event, however just because you were not invited doesn't mean you cant come! We simply don't and cannot know everyone in the hobby, so if you would like to come please, let us know! Please contact Victoria Kent if you are interested in attending or have any questions. We can also add you to our yahoo group for more information.

Things You Should Bring:

  • a list of nearby hotels can be viewed here: Local Hotels

Food: What there is to eat will vary depending on the level of participants. There will be a roast pig or roasted hams, depending on the number of participants and donations received. Another factor will be what particpants decide to bring to share. As the event draws closer this will firm up and updates will be added to the website.

Registration is due no later than July 21st, 2007. Cash or check are both accepted. Checks can be made out to Victoria Kent (We are not yet incorporated sorry!) and can be mailed to 7705 Shady Brook Lane, Gaithersburg MD 20879

Admission will be $12.00 for adults, $7.00 for children and children 3 & under are free. Please keep in mind that this is a benefit event to raise money for preservation so additional donations would be greatly appreciated. A statement of where your money went to will be available shortly after the event upon your request. This event is a great opportunity for families and for men who usually do military impressions to try out a civilian impression!

    Impression Guidelines:

Because this event is invitation only we are not going to list the do's and don'ts of what to and not to wear. We do however have a few points to mention regarding clothing.

Unfortunately we cannot accept both Federal and Confederate impressions at this event for our gentlemen friends, because of this our best resolution will be to accept men only dressed in civilian attire or confederate impression. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but please try to view it as a chance to spread your wings.

Women this will be a fun opportunity to bring out your nice dresses but be cautioned and think about your level of involvement in the event as you may not to wear silk if you will have children who will be swimming etc. On the other hand do not feel discouraged about attending if you do not have a "best" day dress.

Children will not be exempt from period correct impressions but they are encouraged to attened.

This event, while in a beautiful setting, is in a public park and there for there will be modern intrusions so please do not expect other wise. While the event will not be advertised to the public we will not be discouraging them from viewing and asking questions should they come. It is however a very beautiful and enjoyable location that deserves to be supported.

Directions can be found at the above listed Jerusalem Mills Website. We hope to see you there!
